The plan to use electric cars in Indonesia is a hot issue in the Indonesian industry. This is after President Joko Widodo has signed Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Program’s Acceleration. The government has set a production target of 2,200 electric cars units, 711 thousand hybrid cars and 2.1 million units of electric motorbikes by 2025. The supporting infrastructure components are also preparing public electric charging stations and public electric vehicle charging stations.
To implement the plan and realize these targets, the government has created a road map for electric vehicles in Indonesia. This needs to be supported by the adaptation of cities in Indonesia related to clean transportation development. Several cities have started to carry out trials and transformation plans to welcome electric vehicles, Jakarta. Electric-fueled taxis (Electric Car) are already operating in Jakarta, in addition to that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through Transjakarta has also conducted trial stages for electric buses. There are currently two types of electric buses being tested in Jakarta, namely Single bus, Low Entry & Medium Bus. In 2022, the DKI Jakarta Government also plans to conduct trials for articulated buses and small buses and electric microbuses.
Apart from Jakarta, several other cities are also trying to adapt to prepare the electric vehicle ecosystem, such as Bandung with the Electric Grab Wheel / Electric Scooter. In Bali, with trials of electric buses and the Central Java provincial government is also planning to buy an electric bus.
